* Access to Utilization Management * Permission to edit a request

When you need to extend a member's stay on an inpatient request, extend a patient's service on an outpatient or prior authorization request, or extend a member's referral for a referral request.

The system does not allow inpatient request extensions on the length of stay (LOS) if the request status is **Closed** or **Discharged.**

Extending an LOS

From the Inpatient block within the current request, do the following:

Click the

**Extend** icon next to the LOS.

_Service Extensions are only allowed after the LOS is Extended._

Enter information in the optional fields of the **Create Extension** window:* Requestor Name * Requestor Type * Contact Phone * Contact Email * Fax

Click **Create Extension.**

The default values are pulled from the Initial LOS to create **Extension 1**:

The LOS now displays the Extension details along with the outcome fields below for decisioning based on your organization's workflows.

Click

**Edit** to edit LOS Extension 1.

In this example, we will change the **Review Type** and the **From Date**.

The Through Date is calculated using the From Date and Duration.

**Edit Length of Stay**:* **Duration** 1 Day * **LOC** Acute Care * **From Date** 6/03/2025 * **Review Type** Concurrent Review * **Treatment Type** Medical * **Notification Date** 6/03/2025

Click **Save Changes.**
