Managing Request Attachments

Request attachments are usually added to new/existing requests from a Fax intake queue. This user guide details the steps on adding an attachment to a request and all operations able to be performed on an attachment.

* Access to Utilization Management * Permission to manage attachments

When a file or a URL needs to be associated with a request to provide additional information or directions.

* Confirm if the attachment needs to be placed at the person or request level. Refer to [Managing Attachments for Programs & Persons](../../care-management/attachments/managing-attachments-for-programs-and-persons.md) for the first option. * When you view an attached file, a copy of the file is downloaded to your hard drive. Ensure you follow PHI handling procedures for your organization. * You can also drag and drop a file from a file browser to the attachment panel * When you are attaching a file, it must be accessible from a file location on your computer.

Adding a Request Attachment

Click the **Notes – Attachments** panel on the right side of a request details view

Two types of attachments are supported: file and link. File attachments should not exceed 1 GB and must be in one of the following formats_: .mp3, .mp4, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .svg, .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .xlsx_. A link attachment is a URL to an external website. The link must begin with either _http://_ or _https://_.

Select **Link** from the Add Attachment List.

Enter a **Title** for the link. The maximum length of the title is 100 characters.

Paste or type in the **Link.**

Adding a File Type Attachment

Select **File** from the Add Attachment list.

Browse to the location of the file to attach and select the file.

_Optional:_ Enter a **Title** for the file. The maximum length of the title is 100 characters.

_Optional:_ Select a **Category**. Available choices are: _Clinical_ and _Insurance._ This is a multi-select field, so you may select both.

Click **Save**.

Viewing an Attachment

To view a _file_ attachment, click the download button. The attached documents downloads to your browser’s default download folder and opens.![](<../../../../.gitbook/assets/6 (4).png>)

To view a _link_ attachment, click the open button. The attached URL opens in a new tab.![](<../../../../.gitbook/assets/7 (4).png>)

Select **Rename**

Enter a new title for the attachment

Click the checkmark to save your changes.![](<../../../../.gitbook/assets/9 (4).png>)

_Optional:_ Click the x to discard your changes.

Deleting an Attachment

**Important Note:** Deleting an attachment cannot be undone

Select **Delete.**

Click **Delete** to confirm the removal of the attachment.![](<../../../../.gitbook/assets/13 (1).png>)

_Optional:_ Click **Cancel** to abort the removal of the attachment.
