Using CareWebQI

Overview

CareWebQI® is an interactive web-based tool that provides access to MCG care guidelines. These care guidelines include quality measures, clinical evidence, and simultaneous review and discharge planning. If your organization uses CareWebQI, you can apply these guidelines manually to determine the appropriate outcome of a request for a member.

When a care manager needs to use CWQI to process a request by selecting the appropriate review criteria. Using MCG content, CareWebQI informs you whether the patient’s condition has or met the appropriate criteria or not. The care manager can assign a CareWebQI outcome based on the CareWebQI recommendation.

Refer to your organizational policies and procedures regarding request decisioning.

CareWebQI Request Review

Access the request for review from your worklist, a department worklist, or by searching for the member or request ID.

From the Length of Stay (LOS, if Inpatient) or Services, click **More**

, and then select **Launch CareWebQI.**

When CareWebQI is accessed automatically, a Guideline Overview page displays. This page contains a menu of guidelines that are based on either the request service code (if available) or the diagnosis code.

Review the guidelines, and then select the most appropriate guideline for the given request.

As you review and check the boxes, CareWebQI updates the top banner to indicate the status based on the selections. After completing your review, click **Save**.

Click **Exit Episode** to return to the request.

On the request Services page, a message displays informing you that CareWebQI guidelines were provided.

Update the outcomes based on the review. You can do this on an individual LOS and/or Service level, or you can use the **Approve/Deny All** buttons.

The system updates the Overall Request Status.

You can review the guidelines at any time by clicking **View Guidelines.**

To return to the request, you can click the arrow before CareWebQI Guidelines, or you can click the request ID in the breadcrumbs.
