Diverting a Request

Diverting a Request

Overview

Inpatient and outpatient requests can be interchanged based on your organization's policies. This approach centralizes information within a single request, avoiding the complications of having data split across multiple requests. Creating a new request can be time-consuming as it requires duplicating data from the original request.

Diverting the request from Outpatient to Inpatient results in the following:

  • All the open tasks for the request are migrated to the diverted Inpatient Request.

  • All the Notes information relative to the request are transferred to the diverted Inpatient Request.

  • You cannot edit or relaunch InterQual Connect review.

Diverting the request from Inpatient to Outpatient results in the following:

  • All the Notes information relative to the Inpatient Request are copied to the Outpatient Request.

{% tabs fullWidth="false" %}

- Access to Utilization Management - Permission to divert requests

**Note:** This feature must also be enabled at your organization.

When it has been determined that changing an outpatient or inpatient request its counterpart is more cost effective or is better for the health of the person.

* Follow your organization's policies and guidelines on request diversion.
