Overview of the Data Platform

Medecision Data Platform Overview

The Medecision Data Platform is the foundation for ingesting, transforming, enriching, and exposing data across the full suite of workflow applications. It ensures data integrity, real-time availability, interoperability, and compliance—powering decision support, reporting, and workflow automation across care and utilization management functions.

Core Components

1. Data Ingestion Engine

  • Supports batch and real-time data ingestion (e.g., HL7, FHIR, X12, CSV, API)

  • Monitors inbound feeds from clients, providers, labs, payers, HIEs, and state data sources

  • Real-time event stream handling for ADT, claims, and member updates

  • Built-in error handling, retry logic, and feed monitoring dashboards

2. Data Lake & Canonical Model

  • Stores raw and transformed data with lineage tracking

  • Canonical data model standardizes data across multiple source systems

  • Scalable cloud-based storage with partitioning and performance indexing

  • Supports historical replay and snapshot capabilities

3. Transformation & Mapping Services

  • Low-code mapping tools for business rules, code set normalization (ICD, CPT, NDC)

  • Derived field creation for stratification, triggers, or metrics

  • Custom enrichment logic to tag data (e.g., high-risk member, missed appointment, non-compliance)

  • Inline validation rules, deduplication, and translation logic

4. Data Enrichment & Clinical Intelligence Hooks

  • Integration with Clinical Intelligence Engine for real-time rule execution

  • Adds SDOH, behavioral, and engagement data to enrich claims and clinical data

  • Derives key indicators like risk scores, gaps in care, and program eligibility

  • Flags for AI/ML model inputs and trigger pathways

5. APIs & Integration Layer

  • RESTful APIs to expose structured data to external systems or portals

  • FHIR API endpoints for member, coverage, claim, encounter, and observation resources

  • Event-driven webhooks and data subscriptions

  • Client-specific API proxies and scoped access tokens

Reporting Support

  • Power data marts for embedded analytics and third-party BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, BigQuery)

  • Near real-time refresh on key metrics and stratifications

  • Programmatic export options (e.g., SFTP, API, scheduled batch)

  • Dashboard-ready feeds for CM/UM metrics, campaign attribution, and program performance

Security & Compliance

  • HIPAA-compliant infrastructure with end-to-end encryption

  • Fine-grained access controls and audit logging at every data touchpoint

  • Data segmentation by client, plan type, and user role

  • Data retention and archiving based on regulatory and contractual requirements

Interoperability & Standards

  • Native support for:

  • HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU)

  • FHIR R4

  • X12 837, 835

  • CCD/C-CDA

  • Built-in translators and validators for crosswalks between standards

  • Terminology services for code set expansion, SNOMED to ICD mappings, and lab code normalization

Extensibility & Client-Specific Customization

  • Data pipelines can be extended per client needs

  • Client-specific transformation rules, enrichment logic, and API views

  • Ability to partition pipelines by line of business or data domain

  • Integrates with client-hosted analytics environments via secure connections

Operational Monitoring & Governance

  • Real-time ingestion dashboards for monitoring data freshness and error rates

  • Feed status alerting (email, SMS, dashboard)

  • Data governance tools for feed cataloging, version control, and audit history

  • Data steward interface for manual overrides, field-level editing, and rule simulation

Integration with Platform Workflows

  • Feeds Clinical Intelligence Engine and all Builder tools

  • Source of truth for reporting, dashboarding, and API data pulls
